The Season of Lent

Lent is a time to look inward and journey towards a deeper relationship with Christ. Often this means that over the 40 days of Lent we examine our faith lives and ask -Is there anything I need to give up to grow closer to God? Are there any practices like prayer, fasting, service, reading or meditation, I can take up to grow in my faith?

There is no right way to observe Lent, but we hope you find a way to grow in your relationship with Christ during this season of preparation before Easter.

Gifts of the Dark Wood

sundays, THROUGH april 9, lane chapel-8:30am, and sanctuary-10:30am

When you realize that there is more to life than meets the eye, you discover a longing to connect with the mystery of God.  That’s when you know you have entered the Dark Wood - a metaphor for the journey of awakening to a life with God more wonderful than you’ve ever imagined. The journey bears with it particular Dark Wood gifts: the gift of uncertainty — when you cannot see the endpoint of your journey, or the path ahead is not clearly marked; gifts of emptiness, of getting lost, of temptation and disappearing.  A mature faith is one that embraces life as a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved— that welcomes the wisdom of these gifts, instead of seeing them as a curse.

He(art) Matters

sundays, THROUGH april 9, worship center-10:30am

The path of life is rarely clear or straight-forward. Each day we may experience things like pain, joy, grief, beauty or vulnerability. But experiencing these things is only part of our journey. How do we share and express those matters of the heart with God and each other?
Art is a way we can journey towards a deeper relationship with God. Through different mediums we can encounter Christ in new ways, process grief and doubt, or experience the beauty of God. Engaging and creating art can give us words, images and emotions to help understand ourselves and God. This Lent we will look inward to explore these matters of the heart with art.

LENT & EASTER ACTIVITIES AT NOEL

Lenten Project in the Worship Center

These sticks on the cross are a visual representation of Christ taking on our sin, our burdens, our suffering. Join us in creating this piece of art right here for worship!
